Lynda Carter

Carter was born in Phoenix as the daughter Juanita (nee Cordova), and Colby Carter. Her mother comes from Mexico, is Mexican, Spanish and French. Carter is the younger sister of Vincent and a brother and Pamela as a sister. Carter was 5 years old when she made her public TV debut on Lew Kings Talent Show. Carter joined a band called Just Us in high school. The group played marimba, conga drum as well as an acoustic guitarist as well as a stand-up bass that was played by another girl in the group. Lynda began singing at a local pizza restaurant when she was 15.  She joined her cousins' group, The Relatives, when she turned 16. The drummer in the band was Gary Burghoff, an actor. The band first performed in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel and Casino Lounge. Carter was 21 years old when she first entered the kitchen. After being called "Most gifted" Carter made the decision to leave the school to pursue the career of a musician. Carter was a candidate for an audition in 1970. She sang on the tour of The Garfin Gathering's bandleader Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first concert with each other was held at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel so new that it didn't have a sidewalk entrance. They played mostly to hotel staff and guests, who parked their cars beneath. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit" and performed shows in numerous casinos in the state's lounges, which were situated between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter decided to quit the Garfin Gathering for acting, and returned home to Arizona in 1972.
