Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress director producer, and vocalist. An attractive, clever and skilled actor, she's an inspiration to Asian actors aspiring to make it big in Hollywood. An array of highly successful initial roles in a popular TV show resulted in her being popular for her role in the show in Ally McBeal, where she appeared as Ling Woo. In the wake of her popularity, she was offered major roles on the shows Shanghai Noon (1998) and Charlie's Angels (2000). In Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave an outstanding performance as Japanese criminal O-Ren Ishii. In the meanwhile, she was also in leading roles in several film that did not make the top of the charts, like Rise: Blood Hunter. Then, she was an actor in voice in animated films, including Kung Fu Panda. The small screen role of Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia failed to produce results. Southland's critically-acclaimed police drama, Southland and a recurring part in the show helped Liu establish herself as an established actor.
